The Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID) is expanding its Freebee electric ride service to include Edgewater and Midtown.
The expansion includes a new connection to Miami’s Metromover at the 15th Street station, providing a free, convenient option for people traveling from Downtown and Brickell to reach Wynwood without a car.
By creating new, free ways to reach the Wynwood Arts District, Freebee is helping to reduce the need for visitors to drive, said David Lombardi, the BID’s chairman. The expansion is also designed to increase foot traffic to Wynwood and support the district’s thriving ecosystem of artists, business owners, and cultural institutions, he added.
“This expansion is all about making Wynwood more accessible,” Mr. Lombardi said. “Whether you’re coming from Edgewater, Midtown, Downtown, or Brickell, you now have a free, convenient way to visit Wynwood’s galleries, restaurants, and cultural events.”
Riders can request a free ride to or from Wynwood using Freebee’s all-electric vehicles, now operating in both its signature hot pink and black two-tone fleet. Service is available through the Freebee app, by calling (855) 918-3733, or by hailing vehicles directly from the street, where available. Freebee operates within designated geofenced zones. All rides must either begin or end within Wynwood, allowing visitors to travel into the district and return to Edgewater, Midtown, or the Metromover connection.
“We’re eliminating the parking hassle,” Mr. Lombardi added, “and making it easier for people to discover everything Wynwood has to offer.”
